Nike Stadium: Elite Pack by Sølve Sundsbø
May 28th, 2010
Ronnies The Nike Stadium campaign sees an update today as the brand’s unveils its latest development with artist Sølve Sundsbø. Having worked on an illustration for the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II boot, this latest development sees Sølve produce visuals for the Nike Elite Series. Further insight from Nike is offered below. We had him reinventing the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II boot. The result astonished us so much that it would have been a match made in heaven having him to portrait the whole brand new Nike Elite Series, including therefore CTR360 Maestri, Total90 Laser III and Tiempo Legend III football shoes – all graced by a reengineered outsole, super-strong lightweight carbon fiber plates and high contrast colors that distinctly improve on-field visibility. Actually, an ever-mutating and crazily daring combination of colors and technology is one of the trademarks in Sølve Sundsbø’s work: what we got here is really likely to be a perfect match. © L. Nike Sportswear x Kronk “Bleed Your Colors” South Africa (Video)
May 4th, 2010
Ronnies Nike Sportswear unveils a short spot featuring the work of South African artist Kronk, who was tapped to design the capsule lineup for NSW’s recent True Colors campaign. Kronk represents his native land of South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. Kronk is an emerging designer/illustrator from Cape Town. His work is colorful and whimsical, a collision of rock poster rebelliousness and wry pop culture references. His contributions to the South African team kit are the most intricate of the collection, with an insanely detailed crest embroidery, a bubble lettered font, a kaleidoscopic illustrated pattern (lining the AW77 hoodie), and a cartoonish mascot who seems to be in constant motion. Is he a footballer breaking away on the pitch or a fan blowing a horn in the stands? They are one in the same in Kronk’s mashed-up world. Source: EU Kicks © L. Bodega at Arkitip Indoor Art Collection
November 17th, 2009
James Bodega is a curated collection of large scale, eco-friendly, temporary indoor art. The concept is to make the art of emerging and established artists alike, affordable and available to the public. Each piece is delivered as a complete package for the consumer and includes ready-to-apply art piece and tools for installation. Obsessed with process, Bodega creates high quality, layered die-cut vinyl art editions; representing some of the most captivating artists of our generation. Using eco-friendly inks and vinyl to create layered die-cut, gallery quality vinyl that cab be applied to any flat surface. The vinyl is low-tack and can be removed without damaging the wall; however, is non-collectible as the art work cannot be reapplied to a surface after removal. A character that is intrinsically designed to the medium to retain the divide between the collection of the artists original art and Bodega editions so you can continue to explore your living environment by embracing art in your everyday life. Aya Takano “Reintegrating Worlds” Exhibition Recap
November 12th, 2009
James A familiar name out of the KaiKai Kiki stable of sensational Japanese pop-artists, Aya Takano opened up her “Reintegrating Worlds” exhibition this past weekend. In a departure from the usual cartoony aesthetics marked by other KaiKai Kiki icons such as Takashi Murakami, Takano’s approach is decidedly a little bit darker and subdued with the lack of vibrant colors we’ve seen from many of her associates. Among the attendees to witness Takano’s female-centric works was Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. The exhibition is currently running at the Skarstedt Gallery until December 12th, 2009.
