In the run up to the World Basketball Festival (WBF) in New York, Nike Sportswear is releasing a new collection of Air Force 1′s featuring colors, materials and inspiration drawn from the identity of each of the city’s boroughs. These five supreme-level shoes will debut in limited quantities this Saturday, July 31st, across the city as summer hoops season heats up. Each of the five shoes within the collection are varsity-inspired, with graphics on the exterior heel and sock liner, special borough exclusive ‘BE’ nod on the tongue, limited edition ‘1898’ labret honoring the year the boroughs were consolidated and printed laces. The collection will be sold in it’s entirety at Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer store, with each borough shoe being available at select retailers in each borough. />

As a keen runner, UNDERCOVER’s Jun Takahashi designed the “GYAKUSOU” collection in conjunction with sportswear giants Nike. The project actually began last year, with the forthcoming 2010 Fall/Winter collection appearing to faithfully continue the relationship. Designed by the UNDERCOVER Lab, using Nike’s most innovative materials, UNDERCOVER further their “Less but Better” approach with this collaborative project which shall be available soon.

Highlighted by collaborations with Cody Hudson and Nike, here is a selection of Saint Alfred’s Summer collection for 2010. Photographed by David Robinson, these previews concentrate on both t-shirts and accessories; the collection consists of strong graphics executed in minimal fashion to achieve Saint Alfred’s traditional look. Using the brand’s “Saints Rise Above” mantra, Hudson incorporates his own hot air balloons producing a truely collaborative amalgamation. Nike Sportswear continue their World Cup inspired wear, producing here a limited run of Saint Alfred Soccer jerseys to celebrate their 5th anniversary, hence the 5 on the back of each Tee. Nike Sportswear unveils a short spot featuring the work of South African artist Kronk, who was tapped to design the capsule lineup for NSW’s recent True Colors campaign. Kronk represents his native land of South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.

Kronk is an emerging designer/illustrator from Cape Town. His work is colorful and whimsical, a collision of rock poster rebelliousness and wry pop culture references. His contributions to the South African team kit are the most intricate of the collection, with an insanely detailed crest embroidery, a bubble lettered font, a kaleidoscopic illustrated pattern (lining the AW77 hoodie), and a cartoonish mascot who seems to be in constant motion. Is he a footballer breaking away on the pitch or a fan blowing a horn in the stands? They are one in the same in Kronk’s mashed-up world.

Here’s a look at a simple 3/4 sleeve hoody from the Spring/Summer Collection of the football centric brand F.C.R.B. The hoodie features the collaborative logo of Nike and F.C.R.B. and will be released in three colorways of white/black, grey/blue and black/white. All three versions will be available via F.C.R.B. stocklists at the end of the week.

As Christmas nears, OriginalFake have something special up their sleeves with a new pack for the Holidays. Featured within the collection is a two-tone knit sweater, matching beanie and socks, and Red quilted jacket, all featuring a uniform theme and color scheme paired in a tonal bag. For its Spring/Summer season adidas Originals teamed up with Star Wars for a memorable collection of footwear and apparel. Although the theme has been used in the world of fashion already, this new collection seamlessly fuses inspiration from legendary Star Wars characters and scenes with iconic adidas Originals silhouettes. The pieces begin to hit all adidas Originals stores and other select retailers in January 2010 while a closer look into the lineup will soon be made available.

Louis Vuitton offer up a couple of new colorways for the brand’s Sunlight sneaker, a fairly subtle pair of low profile kicks. Both pair suede and leather uppers with red/brown and grey/blue highlights. As a part of the Louis Vuitton Winter 2009 Collection they can now be found through select LV flagship stores.

The Staple x Airwalk collaboration launched earlier this year as Staple aimed to diversify itself on a different, budget-minded platform. Maintaining a limited edition approach and low-quantity runs, the Staple x Airwalk collection teams up with Star Trek once again to mark the upcoming DVD release of Star Trek. Three versions of the Terrain are seen here in “Engineering” Red, “Command” Gold and “Science” Blue, all based on the uniforms worn by the crew. The yellow versions will remain online exclusives will the rest will be available at both Payless online and in-store as well as at Reed Space on Tuesday.

Yohji Yamamoto’s more youth oriented brand Coming Soon preview looks from its upcoming collection for the spring/summertime. The lineup features a looser-fitting medley of styles which are lightweight enough to be layered yet still hold their own as a single pieces. Blazers, knits, and button-downs are paired with baggy all-over print bottoms in various textile choices.

One of the most notable art initiatives this year, O.H.W.O.W. founded by Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran are set to take their movement to the next level with the upcoming opening of a physical storefront in New York. Amongst the latest drops from Levi’s Fenom are a set of solid button-down shirts featuring a tonal fragment design pocket logo in three colorways as well as a new rucker suede jacket.
