Last year, Frank Liew and Qubic invited fragment design’s Kojiro to DJ at the retailer’s Q123 anniversary. Since then, the initial musical initiative has developed into a number of further music-based projects as well as a series of Tokyo parties. The two CD set features mixes from Bozak/Urei equipment in vinyl format for a unique sound. VINTAGE NOISE VOL. 2 will release tomorrow night at the Qubic Carnivale Third Anniversary Event. The first 30 people at the event will received a free copy. The cover art was done by Kojiro and Frank Liew with mastering by Ben Lawson, Red Bull Studio NZ. Janelle Monáe featuring Big Boi – Tightrope (Video)
March 31st, 2010
Ronnies Arguably one of the most underrated singers in recent years Janelle Monáe seems to finally receive the recogintion she deserves. Ms. Monáe’s name should be added to the small list of musicians whose music evokes the spirit of the golden era of Motown – something that has been missing in today’s music scene. The soulful singer from Atlanta now unleashes the creative and dance-heavy visual, directed by Wendy Morgan, to her Big Boi-assisted single “Tightrope” off her forthcoming debut The Archandroid . The artists gives a thorough explanation of the message behind her single: Tightrope’ deals with balance. Early on in my career, and even now, it’s a daily struggle to stay balanced and not get too high or too low. It was something that I hadn’t really heard in a song. If I was telling somebody how to make it through life, I would definitely tell them that balance is important. You can’t get too high on praises and you can’t get too low on any one situation. I wanted that song to be an empowerment song. I wanted people to find their inner confidence and to feel more self-empowered in understanding that they have to stay more balanced in life. That was my goal. James Brown influenced it, of course. I wanted it to be that 2010 beyond anthem—that classic song that you can go to in any moment when you feel like things are out of control in life. That’ll be your little medicine. The Archandroid is scheduled for May 18th-release via Bad Boy. © citizen for Nike Sneaker Online , 2010. | Permalink | 5 comments | Add to del.icio.us Post tags: Big Boi , Janelle Monae , Music
