Daydreaming with… James Lavelle Exhibition Recap

Ronnies Last night, London’s Haunch of Venison hosted a private viewing of Mo Wax’s James Lavelle’s exhibition, Daydreaming with… . Inspired by the desire to marry music and visual art, the artwork was influenced by the music of U.N.K.L.E., which if you don’t know is Lavelle’s biggest recurring music project to date. The exhibition showcase both new and retrospective work, many fans will immediately recognise Futura’s Pointman character as featured on U.N.K.L.E.’s debut album, Psyence Fiction. Creating a “Multi-sensory” environment the plethora of artists on show include: Azzi Galsser, Bast, Boudicca, Ben Drury, Dan Glasser, David Nicholson, Faile, Futura, Ian Monroe, James Lavelle, Jamie Shovlin, John Hillcoat, John Nolan, Jonas Burgert, Jonathan Glazer, Kai and Sunny, Nathan Coley, Oswaldo Macia, Polly Borland, Robert del Naja, Simon Birch, Warren du Preez and Nick Thonton Jones. Nike Air Mag “Marty McFly” Patent News

Ronnies Nice Kicks updates us with some news that’ll have all the hardcore collectors sweating, as they unveil a look into the official patent for an automatic lacing system from Nike. The design eerily resembles the system featured within Nike’s Air Mag, Marty McFly’s sneakers in the cult film Back to the Future II. This information comes from the World Intellectual Property Organization website , with Tinker Hatfield and the designers at Nike’s Innovative Kitchen listed on the proposition. The New York Times: Inside the Knockoff-Tennis-Shoe Factory

Ronnies The business of counterfeit goods is becoming bigger than most of the industries that they replicate. This is the case with the footwear industry, as more and more sneakers are duplicated and sold for a fraction of the retail price. The New York Times goes in depth with the new article “Inside the Knockoff-Tennis-Shoe-Factory” profiling an Italian shopkeeper who unsuspectingly placed a Nike Tempo shoe order with a Chinese factory that took the shoes blueprint and created over 3,000 clones of the original sneaker. During the mid-1990′s, factory’s began to emerge specializing in knocking off brands such as adidas, Puma and the most replicated Nike. It’s estimated that for every one shoe created legitimately that two knock-offs are created.
